The United Methodist Men is sponsoring a Ladies Appreciation Dinner for the women of the church on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 6:30 PM.  If you plan to attend, please RSVP by Thursday, February 9th.  You can register on-line by clicking on the link below.  Also, please let us know if childcare is needed and indicate the number of children needing childcare. A Fat Tuesday pancake supper will be held on February 21st at 5:30 PM.  The cost is $4 per person with a maximum of $10 per family.  Please let us know if you plan to attend by Friday, February 17th.  Please let us know if you plan to attend by emailing us your family name and number attending to northeast@neumc.com.

An Ash Wednesday Service will be held on February 22nd at 7:00 PM as we gather for a solemn service of self-examination and repentance.  The worship includes the imposition of ashes in which the ashes from last year’s palms presented on Palm Sunday are used to make the sign of the cross on the foreheads of the repentant worshippers.  This act is a visible reminder that "we are dust and to dust we shall return," and that "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God."  The sign of the cross is a confirmation of our forgiveness, which comes from Jesus Christ as we freely confess our sin before him.
